I’m very particular about things I promote, but this one thing is something so very cool that I had to let y’all know about it in hopes that you’ll team up with me to give for not just a great cause, but for how it will be done.  This is from my friend Ken, aka DJ Sleeper (the one in the gorilla suit).


In Ken’s words…

On April 12, Aristocat + I (Sleeper) will attempt to run 100 miles over 5 days, directly to DJ at the Vestal Village. It’s a secret event outside the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (one of the nation’s largest music festivals).

We’ll be running through scorching deserts and mountain terrain during crazy summer heat. A bus where we sleep + eat will meet us at certain check points with live video feed.

Our goal is two-fold: raise $50,000 for Charity Water and show the world the physical potential of the average person. We are the farthest thing from a finely tuned athlete, and neither of us have ever ran a marathon.

This run is mostly inspired by the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall.

Why charity: water?
charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Many people in the developing world, usually women and children, walk more than three hours every day to fetch water that is likely to make them sick. Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under 5 years old.

4,500 children will die TODAY from water related diseases.

This is ridiculous.

Just $20 can give one person in a developing nation clean water for 20 years. $50,000 will save 500 families, 2,500 people.

100% of all donations go directly to water projects, funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need. Each donation is “proved” with GPS when projects are complete. You’ll see exactly where your money is saving lives.
